Eligibility for PhD Admission 2024 (PAT-2023)
- (i) Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. programme shall have a Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the aggregate (or an equivalent grade in point scale, wherever system is followed).
- (ii) A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50% or an equivalent relaxation of grade will be allowed for those belonging SC/ST/EBC/OBC/Differently-abled categories of candidates.
- (iii) A candidate shall ordinarily be permitted to pursue research for the Ph.D. degree in the subjects in which he/she holds Master’s degree / Allied subject from a recognized university (with respect to Allied subjects, the list of concerned (Core) subjects and their Affiliated subjects issued by Bihar State University Service Commission will be applicable).

Purnea University PhD written test
The written test consists of two papers. Each paper consists of 100 marks each with multiple choice questions. Paper I is based on qualitative teaching and research aptitude and Paper II shall be subjective type based on the subject concerned.
Interview Details
The interview process is a crucial component of the selection procedure, carrying a weight of 20 marks. It is mandatory for all candidates, including those who are otherwise exempted, to appear before the Interview Board. The minimum qualifying marks for the interview are set as follows:
- General candidates: 50% aggregate marks
- Reserved category candidates: 45% aggregate marks
Entrance Test Schedule
The entrance test will be conducted in two sittings on 27th October 2024 (Sunday). The schedule is as follows:
- Paper I: 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
- Paper II: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Entrance Test Centre
The test will be held at various centres within the Pune District. The exact locations will be communicated to the candidates in due course.
